The Diocese of Karonga is a Roman Catholic diocese based in Karonga, a town on the shores of Lake Malawi in Malawi’s Northern Region. Erected in 2010 from territory of the Diocese of Mzuzu, it serves Catholics across districts including Karonga, Chitipa and Rumphi, with its cathedral located in Karonga itself. Beyond pastoral work, the diocese operates schools, health facilities and development programmes that support local communities in one of Malawi’s most remote regions. It employs clergy, teachers, healthcare workers and administrative staff, making it a significant institution in the far north of Malawi.
