Key Responsibilities
- Screen and assess agriculture loan applicants and process loan applications.
- Conduct field visits with Extension Planning Areas (EPAs) and agronomists to assess farming operations and loan eligibility.
- Train clients and solidarity groups in financial management, business management, and credit management.
- Structure appropriate loan products and prepare loan documentation for approval.
- Monitor loan repayments and manage loan portfolios.
- Follow up on overdue accounts and support loan recovery processes.
- Build relationships with farmers, agro-businesses, community leaders, and government extension services.
- Promote agricultural loan products and financial literacy within communities.
- Ensure compliance with lending policies and prepare regular performance reports.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness Management, Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Extension, Agronomy, or a related field.
- A Diploma in Microfinance, Business Administration, or a related discipline with strong agricultural experience will also be considered.
- At least three (3) years’ experience in microfinance or banking with significant exposure to group lending.
- Proven experience in agricultural lending and working with rural smallholder farmers.
- Strong knowledge of credit analysis, agricultural production, and risk management.
- Ability to prepare and analyse cash flows, repayment plans, and financial statements.
- Experience with group lending methodologies.
