LOGISTICS AND INVENTORY MANAGEMENT OFFICER – GiveDirectly

GiveDirectly is looking for a Logistics and Inventory Management Officer (LIMO) to support field administration and logistics operations.
The successful candidate will primarily manage recipient mobile phones, as well as other GiveDirectly assets and supplies. The role involves inventory management, warehouse operations, asset tracking, logistics, insurance records, office safety, IT-related assets, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee receipt, storage, packing and dispatch/shipping of recipient phones and other assets and supplies.
  • Conduct required verification exercises according to standard operating procedures.
  • Organise warehouse layouts and storage systems for secure and efficient storage and retrieval.
  • Enforce warehouse safety, security and access-control protocols.
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of phones and other sensitive equipment.
  • Track stock levels and reorder points to prevent stockouts or excess/obsolete inventory.
  • Conduct regular cycle counts and full physical stock takes.
  • Maintain and update phone and asset inventory databases using internal tools.
  • Manage recipient phone counts and tracking as the primary inventory focus.
  • Share periodic stock updates with the Operations & Procurement Manager and finance team.
  • Receive and tag phones and other assets upon procurement.
  • Distribute assets to staff/field teams and retrieve them at the end of contracts or programme cycles.
  • Coordinate repairs, maintenance and condition assessments of phones and other equipment.
  • Maintain insurance records for phones and valuable inventory.
  • Process asset disposal according to policy.
  • Manage claims for lost or damaged phones and other assets.
  • Maintain accurate, audit-ready inventory and asset records.
  • Ensure office alarms, fire extinguishers and first aid kits are functional, serviced and stocked.
  • Support sourcing and setup of field office locations when required.
  • Coordinate with ICT staff and outsourced IT consultants on repairs and maintenance of computers and equipment.
  • Track IT-related assets within the overall inventory and tagging system.
  • Support office internet connectivity and power backup solutions.
  • Prepare periodic inventory, asset and logistics reports.
  • Promptly report stock, warehouse and logistics risks to management.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience in logistics, warehouse or inventory management.
  • Diploma or higher in a relevant field.
  • Familiarity with inventory/asset-tracking tools is an advantage.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong ownership mindset and ability to work independently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite and other office software.
  • Comfortable working in a culture of direct and candid feedback.
  • Proficiency in English is required.
